When the Secretary of Defense Harris Edwards told about this discovery, he immediately informed the US government.
Harris is aware of the impending collision with the asteroid and informs the government to avoid the disaster. Harris keeps this truth out of the public eye because he does not want the political and economic order to collapse.
However, the truth starts creeping in as the series unfolds. And later, it got fully exposed to everyone’s eye. As the truth comes in front of everyone, the political and economic order begins collapsing.

The second season ends with a twist that the asteroid nicknamed Samson is actually not an asteroid. An asteroid was about to hit the Earth for the past two years. Moreover, in the second season, we saw that Darius and many other characters did everything to prepare for the world’s end.
